Sorry to all my loyal readers and fans out there for taking the last few days off! I know you were all obssesively checking my blog to see what was new…haha. I spent the weekend down in San Diego to watch the Chargers Bills game with my close high school friends Dan and Giselle. Let’s wrap up my the last few days of adventures…
Friday
Friday was normal. Steak and spinach lunch at work. But then had to deal with something new. Had to also pack my dinner to work also since I would be taking Bart straight to OAK airport. The problem was I had to nuke (microwave) my dinner in the office then hope it would still be warm by the time I ate at the airport. Got to airport around 5:30pm for my 8:50pm flight. Why the hell was I there so early? a) wanted to leave work b) figured might as well try to go standby on the 6:50pm flight. Didn’t work out so great. It would have cost me $110 to leave 2 hrs earlier which was more than my original flight! I thought oh well, I’ll just do what I do second best (after eating) and that’s napping. Too bad the seat I chose by my gate was quickly surrounded by an entire family who happened to be sharing and enjoying bomb smelling margarita pizza. Not cool. My stomach was already grumbling and it was only 6:30pm. I had a dilemma. I could either appease my appetite but risk being hungry later in the night or hold out as long as I could but then enjoy my not-so-warm-anymore salmon and broccoli. Decided to do the latter and force myself to nap. 30mins later I crushed my food.
Landed and was picked up by my brother. I wasn’t as excited as usual to see him. Not because I don’t enjoy seeing my bro but because it has been tradition for the last 4-5 years that whenever someone picks me up at the airport in SD they HAVE to bring me a california burrito with guacamole from the one and only Santanas (now called FRESHMXNFOOD and at several locations throughout SD which I dislike but honestly best burrito in the world). It was a painful ride to my parents’ house knowing I could be eating a cali. 5% of me was trying to convice myself it’s ok to get an innocent burrito. It’s not like somebody would die if I ate one. But the other 95% quickly stood strong and said I couldn’t let myself, Mike, or any of YOU guys down. Chugged my chocolate flavored water and said bye to my bro who HAD to throw in “you don’t want to know where I’m going” before he left…
Saturday
Saturday morning played golf with my dad and bro. Kicked their asses as usual. Got pretty hungry during the game since I ate breakfast at 8am and wouldn’t be able to eat lunch until we got home around 2:30pm! Luckily managed to make my cashews last thru holes 10 and 11.
While I was slowly enjoying my cashews my dad of course whips out some beef jerky, smiles, and begins eating it while staring right at me. Gotta love my pops. After three pieces of jerky he moved on to his assorted nuts. At this point, I was already done with my cashews and still hungry of course. He noticed I was eyeing all of his salted almonds so he offered me one. Now I know that one almond isn’t that bad and it probably would have been ok but I still declined. I explained how this challenge is something that I want to be fully comitted to. I am proud to say that after one full week I have not ONCE broken my meal plan. Not one fry, not one chip, not one cup of tea, not one extra large portion!
After golf made it home to lunch and then went Christmas shopping with my grandma at the mall. Picked up tons of gifts which makes my life easier since I could just leave them all in SD. Got back and made some salmon and broccoli and then went to play with my nephew and niece!

My nephew, Owen, and my niece, Maddy!
Watched Cars 2 with them for a bit then read them a bed time story, tucked them in, and sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to them. Love it.
After kids were asleep around 8:30pm my bro convinced me to go trail biking with him. We ended up doing a pretty intense 2 hr/10 mi mt. bike ride through Los Penasquitos Nature Reserve from his house in PQ to Del Mar. Tons of rocks, hills, dirt, bushes, and all sorts of obstacles to go around or over. Oh yeah it was also in the dark, under the moonlight! Luckily he also convinced me to dress warmly which I usually don’t do on rides because our thermometer on the bike pc read 31 degrees at one point!!! Got back before 11pm and had to drink my supplements while he was eating again…It was such a great workout and also super fun experience. Legs were jello and slept like a baby.
Sunday
Sunday was Chargers game! Dan and Giselle came by to pick me up. Before they got me they stopped at In N Out. Now everyone knows that I love burritos and eat them 2-3 times a week (and those are mediocre burritos in the Bay). But I honestly love In N Out even MORE! If you’ve ever seen my facebook statuses you know I eat In N Out A LOT. This car ride to Qualcomm was the HARDEST MOMENT ALL WEEK. NO JOKE. The fragrance of double doubles and fries just smashing my face over and over. They ate as quickly as they could to end my torture. They felt so bad but I told them that I don’t want them to at all but yeah it sucked. I was in the backseat seriously sweating and shaking. Made myself eat all of my cashews and chug a bunch of water. I survived my hardest test yet.
We parked and headed to the stadium. At the security I got asked to open my bag. Had 4 sealed bottles of water and my purple Lakers lunch bag. Security dude checked to make sure all the waters were sealed then pointed to my lunch bag and said “What’s this?” I told him my lunch and he asked if I could open it for him. I’m sure he was expecting alcohol or something because after I pullled out an avocado wrapped in saran wrap that was placed inside of a ziplock and also a glad tupperware with steak and broccoli inside he laughed and said, “That’s the healthiest meal I’ve ever seen.” I told him I was on this diet and he laughed some more.
Got to our great seats and game was AWESOME! Got hungry and couldn’t even wait until the 2nd quarter. I’m sure I got tons of weird looks as I pulled out my tupperware and began eating steak and broccoli with a pink baskin robbins spoon (brought the spoon for the avocado and forgot a fork).

I could have only looked more Asian if I was eating rice and using chopsticks.
Even after lunch it was still difficult to not want to eat more. My nose was being raped by the smells of churros, peanuts, and worst of all hot dogs. It was hard also to not be drinking a beer. I did appreciate laughing at all the drunk idiots around me though. Game was a success after we smashed the Bills.
Got home, packed, cooked dinner and headed to airport back to SF. All weekend I did not have my scale to check my weight and body percentage. I followed my meal plan and even got a good workout on Saturday night but I somehow am nervous that I gained weight. I think it’s the fact that I got to sleep more and was just more relaxed and having fun so didn’t feel as tired like I usully do during the work week. Only one way to find out…
